The Signs of a Spider Infestation
Spiders are a particular nuisance to home owners, as they are attracted to small, warm spaces such as; wall cracks, corners, air vents and in the eaves of your home. Generally speaking, spiders are found in dark, secluded areas, both within your home and garden landscaping. You can usually identify signs of an infestation by:
Spider Webs
Foraging Spiders
That live in burrows rather than webs, whilst others free range and take refuge in crevices
Within Moist Environments
i.e. basements, walls, sheds and other damp locations
Infestation of other insects
i.e. ants, flies, woodlice, mosquitos etc. as spiders feed on other insects throughout your home
When Spiders are Most Active
Temperature drops usually occurring in Autumn, is when spiders become more active as they are looking for a mate. They come out of their hiding places in order to do so. Towards the end of Autumn many die off, but some hibernate until the following Spring throughout your home.
Spider eggs are laid into a silken sac, on average about 100 eggs in each sac, which may be fixed to a surface, hidden in the web or carried by the female. Signs of the sacs fixed indoors indicate that soon there will be many more spiders around. Majority of infestations can be more annoying then harmful, particularly when they leave webs throughout your home. However, this can become a serious problem if you have arachnophobia or it involves some of the most dangers spiders we have here in Australia.

Spiders in Australia
There are more than 35 thousand species of Spiders worldwide. A few thousand of them (which include the most venomous and dangerous) call Australia home.
However, there have been no deaths in Australia from a confirmed spider bite since 1979. Due to an effective antivenom for Redback Spiders introduced in 1956 and then another for the Funnel-Wed Spiders in 1980. These are the only two known Spiders to have caused deaths in Australia in the past, with the Redback Spider species being the most prevalent, due to its ability to habitat throughout the whole of Australia.
Other spider species prefer to stay closer to the outdoors, weaving their webs in your garden or near your outside lighting. Most spiders are a nuisance primarily because of their webbing.
