Wasp Extermination

Wasp Pest Control and Wasp Nest Removal Services for Brisbane and Ipswich suburbs

Wasp Extermination and Nest Removal

We all know that being stung by a wasp or bee is a very painful experience. However it can be deadly to those who have allergic reactions in their sting. It is possible to reduce the risk of a sting by taking sensible precautions when outdoors and also ensuring that any wasp or bee nests are properly managed around your home.

How to Remove a Wasp Nest

The best way to control a wasp problem is to find the nest in the area and spray it with an insecticide that has been approved for this purpose. It is better to treat the nest in the morning or evening when wasp activity is lower.

Of course, removing a wasp nest yourself does bring with it an element of risk. That’s why many people do opt out of the DIY option and hire a professional Pest Controller. If you have a wasp problem, contact Xtermin8er Termite and Pest Control and we will outline the different options.

Species of Wasps Mostly Found in Brisbane, Ipswich Regions

Paper Wasps

Paper Wasps are far less dangerous than the European Wasp, but they may become aggressive during hot weather periods and may cause severe localised pain from their sting.

Paper Wasps – Identification and Nesting locations

Paper Wasps are about 20mm in length and should be approached with extreme caution. This wasp has brown and orange stripes and is far less dangerous. The Paper Wasp is usually found in a small papery nest that hangs from a horizontal surface such as walls, under ceilings, window sills, awnings, shrubs and similar locations.

European Wasps

The European Wasp is found throughout Australia. This wasp may attack in large numbers, as a single motivated group that may sting repeatedly in a frenzy. In such circumstances this feral pest can be highly dangerous to children, the inform and the elderly; deaths have even been recorded.

The sting of the European Wasp in extremely painful – highly inflammatory – particularly if you are stung on the throat or other glandular parts of the body.

European Wasps love sugars. BE CAREFUL if they are about, particularly in summer, as they may enter soft drink or beer cans. Deaths have occurred when people drink from such cans and swallow a European Wasp. The venom of a repeated sting inside a person’s throat can cause massive swelling and sudden death by asphyxiation (suffocation).

European Wasps – Identification and Nesting locations

This wasp can be identified by the bright yellow and black stripes on its abdomen. European Wasp nests are usually found in the ground, rockeries, tree stumps, wall cavities and roof voids.
